Fubo Design System

Designing and governing a multi-platform design system for a live-sports streaming product.

Overview

As part of Fubo’s Design System team, I evolved and maintained the foundations, components, and documentation that supported product experiences across TV, Mobile and Web platforms. My work focused on creating scalable solutions that improved consistency, accessibility, and collaboration between design and engineering teams while supporting the unique needs of each platform.

Focus Areas

01. Building the Foundation

As Fubo expanded across TV, Mobile, and Web, inconsistencies in UI patterns, accessibility standards, and implementation approaches created friction for both design and engineering teams. To address this, I helped evolve Fubo’s Design System into a scalable foundation that brought consistency across platforms and streamlined how teams designed and built experiences.

My work focused on creating reusable components, defining system patterns, improving accessibility standards, and establishing scalable documentation that could support multiple product teams.

Beyond building system foundations, I partnered closely with UX and engineering teams to evaluate proposed features and workflows. By identifying opportunities to leverage existing patterns and simplify solutions, I helped improve user experiences while reducing implementation complexity and engineering effort.

The Sports Cards (V1 to V2) is one example of how this approach helped transform a fragmented solution into a scalable system pattern.

02. Creating Scalable Components

With a strong foundation in place, I partnered closely with product and engineering teams to design and evolve reusable components that could adapt across TV, Mobile, Web experiences.

My work included building component architectures, defining states and variants, establishing responsive behaviors, and creating guidance for implementation. Every component was designed to balance consistency with the unique interaction patterns and constraints of each platform.

From content cards and navigation patterns to indicators, tags, and supporting UI elements, the goal was to create flexible building blocks that could scale across a wide range of streaming experiences while maintaining a cohesive user experience.

A successful design system is more than a collection of components. It requires clear documentation, strong collaboration, and ongoing governance to ensure teams can confidently adopt and evolve the system over time.

In addition to building system foundations and components, I contributed to documentation, usage guidance, accessibility standards, and design-to-engineering workflows. I worked closely with designers and engineers to align on implementation strategies, gather feedback, and continuously improve the system based on real product needs.

By establishing scalable foundations, reusable components, and clear guidance, the Design System became a critical resource for creating consistent experiences across Fubo’s products while improving collaboration and efficiency across teams.
